The Ladies’ Prayer

Our fingers, which art in heaven,

hallowed be thy nails.

My fingers come. My nails be done

on left as well as on right hand.

Give us this day our daily red.

And forgive us our tragic losses,

as we forgive those who’ve lost nails

   before us.

And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from the evil

   of biting them.

For mine is the finger,

the polish and the glory,

for ever and ever.

(Oh, and send the bill to)

Our men
