Lord, help me to find the strength within
To toil unstintingly;
To shun the sum of all my sin
That’s slowly killing me.
Help me to earn my daily bread;
Help me to find thy way;
Help me to sleep in thy sweet bed;
Help me to earn my pay.
I ask not that salvation’s prize
Be given as thy gift.
I ask but that thou supervise
The sins that I must lift.
Help me to be the image sweet
Thou know’st I well may be;
Help me to find the courage to meet
Thy heart’s call willingly.
Help me to keep the faith inside
That thou art Lord Above;
And help me to throw off all my pride;
Exchange it for thy love.
I ask not that thou throw thy hand
Into my labor’s pool;
But that thou mightst yet see me stand
Before thee less a fool.
Help me to change, for truth, the lies
That oft are chilling thee;
Help me to save thy heart its cries:
How thou art killing me!
