God Willing

I kill you, you kill me,

   And it’s all in the name of God.

Ill-will one another so severally

   Our heads are all severly sawed.

Now we two for ever and everally

(Since we did God’s work so cleverally)

Sit and glare at each other Maleverally,

Forever—really! (we’re in Heaven, you see!)

   Aren’t you glad He made us so awed?

Now headless, anew, we renew God’s will;

Aren’t you glad He taught us how looks can kill?

   Are you looking at me, godless fraud?
